The Pit — Free For All

fadingages 10-13 · 14-17

What it is

The Pit is a popular community-made Fortnite map where every player fights everyone else in an open arena with instant respawns. It's used as a warm-up and aim practice space by competitive players and casual ones alike.

What they actually see

Dozens of players run around a compact arena shooting and building against each other with unlimited ammo and materials, and eliminations just send you back to a spawn platform. The screen is busy and loud, with a kill feed scrolling and Fortnite's usual bright, bloodless cartoon combat.

Why kids love it

There are no rules to learn and no waiting around; you drop in, fight whoever is nearest, and respawn seconds later to do it again.

Worth knowing

It has no end point at all, which makes it one of the easiest modes to play far longer than intended.

One way in

The Pit sounds like a warm-up more than a real match. How do you decide when you're done?
